Differentiation with Technology

    The use of technology has become an enormous tool that was introduced in a more frequent manner since the pandemic. This made it challenging for educators who have little to no experience incorporating it into the classroom as a whole. However, once teachers grasp the necessary adjustments needed to accommodate for the new learning experience, finding suitable outlets became the next challenge. Many teachers strive to finding technology tools that will benefit and differentiate each students online learning experience. Not only is this a priority, but students also need an outlet where global awareness and diverse cultural perspectives are represented.       The career requirements to be an educator goes much further than just having summers off and teaching the basic concepts to be successful. The level of how much passion goes into being a teacher can only be understood by other educators. It is not an “easy out” career path like many believes. It takes real passion, creativity, and understanding of our students that guide us to building curriculum that can reach every type of learning style and need.       Teacher’s research different processes, content, resources and learning environments that will help modify their instructional practices (Structural Learning, n.d.).             Many educators ask themselves why some students can make valuable connections with curriculum and others struggle with basic “easy” tasks. Senior leveled teachers who have over 10 plus years of experience rarely branch out and experiment with incorporating different learning styles activities. Any teacher would know that there are never two students who are the same within the learning spectrum. So, the question arises to why are teachers not utilizing a learning inventory and find out what kind of learners they are servicing? The answer comes down to two reasons: 1) teachers are not fully aware of every learning style and 2) teachers do not have prior knowledge of calculating a student’s learning style through a learning inventory. Technology-Based Resources

       Teachers are constantly trying to keep up with the changing times of incorporating technology within the classroom. With there being countless programs to engage students, many educators struggle to find the right one that builds accommodations based on student needs. There are three programs that engage students, but also provide differentiated instruction based on each students learning needs and styles.       The first program that students highly enjoy and continually ask to play is Prodigy . Prodigy is a free and fun gamified program that engages students, differentiates content and allows students to explore learning insights in math and English.
